Wicked Albany Theatre reviews
Wicked was not worth the effort
Having heard all the hype and raves from family and friends, I was prepared to really love the show. I went with my niece who had seen it before.
What a let-down. First off, our tickets were in the Dress circle, so I expected a great view. Nope. We got an angled view of most of the stage if we sat low in the seats to look under the balcony floor. There was a huge black cable running along the edge of the outside wall. Seats were low to the floor so our legs were almost up to our knees.
The free program had no information about the show, only the cast and crew. I was expecting a short Libretto explaining each act of the story, but there was nothing. It did make a pretty good fan though.
But the worse thing was the VOLUME of the music and singing. Yes, I meant to do capital letters. It was awful.. I have Tinnitus in one ear and extremely loud noises are painful. I almost left several times, but didn't want to disturb the other people. I couldn't understand any of the lyrics and the spoken dialog wasn't much easier to understand.
So, with no explanation of what the show was about, the music and singing volume so loud it was painful and not being able to understand what was going on, I have to say the whole experience was terrible.
